Condition Near fine

Includes the first printing of P.B.Shelley’s An Essay on Christianity. Portrait frontispiece. Errata leaf. Small rectangle cut from bottom corner of page 1 without textual loss otherwise internally fine and with Lady Shelley’s inscription to Charles Kegan Paul on title page. All edges red. Quarter vellum and red boards somewhat rubbed, gilt a little dulled but binding sound with undamaged label. Despite the ascription the book was probably largely the work of Richard Garnett.

R. Shelley-Rolls, Bart. Printed at the Curwen Press. Internally fine but original cloth considerably rubbed although sound and with gilt spine lettering still bright. Inscription on fly.
