This list represents our remaining stock of poetry books and ephemera of all periods but with emphasis on modernist poetry published by small presses.
Jonathan Williams
Imaginary Postcards
(Clints Grikes Gripes Glints)
Published by Privately 1972
Edition 1st
Condition Very good
Title page states ‘Texts by Jonathan Williams [...] / Images by Tom Phillips / Typography & Design by Asa Benveniste / Trigram Press, London, 1972’ but this is not a Trigram book, predating the (withdrawn) Trigram edition by 3 years. It is one of Williams’ homemade editions, quarto mimeo bound in spiral plastic spine. Colophon: ‘A few copies of this "Colonel Sanders/Xerox 4000 Edition" have been prepared [...] for friends and Lamed-Vovnicks [...] The postcards included here are from JW’s collection and have nothing to do with the Tom Phillips works to be included in the forthcoming book.’ This copy inscribed ‘Cousin Roy’s copy [i.e. Roy Fisher] love from Lord Bent of Dent C[orn] C[lose] Oct 72.’ The print is the usual photocopy grey of the period. Paper covers, upper protected by acetate overlay clipped top corner. Some loss to head of plastic spine, binding loosening top & bottom edges but still a well-preserved copy.

Note-Book of The Shelley Society
