I.e. the prose works. Separate title pages all dated 1697. General title page & contents page soiled & half an inch missing at foot of both -- repaired & with replacement pieces, the title page mounted. Repairs to last two leaves. A few ink marks in margins. Rubbed half calf, upper joint cracked but held by cords. Lacks spine label. Bookplate of Alan Lubbock.

Quarter bound in vellum & buckram with marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. In original slipcase, part faded.

A cutting of Raymond Gardner’s interview with Montgomery, The Guardian 1 July 1970, laid in.
